Wangari’s Trees of Peace: A True Story from Africa By Jeanette Winter

Wangari lived under a flock of trees. She helps her village by collecting food and water, she also does very good in school which earns her a scholarship to America. She comes back a few years later and notices that all the trees were cut down. Wangari was very sad because she thought that her town would turn into a desert. So her and her friends gathered to talk about it. A few days had passed and they are now planting as many trees as they can. They ended up growing lots of trees and bring back the village. One connection I made was I love being outside and playing I the trees. This book is for kids 11-14 because its a true story. Overall I really enjoyed this book.
